Kuuden lukon kaupunki oli rakennettu tasaiselle aavikolle, ylängölle, jonka horisontit olivat pieniä.

The City of Six Locks was built on a flat desert, on a high plateau with small horizons.
The citizens didn't go anywhere and didn't believe that there was anything more pleasant anywhere else. But this was also something they never thought about. It just never occurred to them that there may be similar creatures somewhere else.
The four gates of the city were locked, but anyone was free to go. The only rule was that you had to tell the guard the reason for your departure.
